A mid 19th century open back armchair by Howard & Sons - London. Raised on turned walnut front legs and arm supports with splayed rear legs and all with the original Cope & Collinson brass casters. C1840
Provenance. Powderham Castle, Devon - England. Home to the Earl of Devon.
The chair retains its original buttoned innards on the back and arms. The seat has been replaced at some point but retains the original Horsehair top layer. It also retains its original H&S printed lining.
For restoration and upholstery.
The chair will be restored by us included in the price of the item before we send it off for upholstery. The upholstery cost is not included.
The restoration needed is the right back leg has split which is fairly common. It has the original piece but it has been badly fitted. This will be put right and tided up by our restorer.
